Preparations Underway for Historic Astronaut Mission

The countdown has begun for the highly anticipated launch of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft, which will carry astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) for the first time. Preparations for the crucial mission are now underway, with the launch campaign officially starting 45 days before the scheduled liftoff date.

Atlas V Rocket Stacking Commences

The first major milestone in the launch campaign is the stacking of the Atlas V rocket. United Launch Alliance (ULA), the rocket's manufacturer, has begun assembling the vehicle at the launchpad. The towering Atlas V will serve as the platform that will propel Starliner into space.

May 17 Launch Date Eyeing

After a slight delay, NASA has now set its sights on a May 17 launch date for Starliner. ULA had initially indicated that the launch would not take place until later in the year. However, a series of successful tests and progress with the spacecraft's development have allowed NASA to adjust its timeline.

May 6 Crew Launch Possible

If all goes according to plan, Boeing will launch its first crewed Starliner mission as early as May 6, 2024. The mission, designated Crew Flight Test (CFT), will carry astronauts Barry Wilmore and Suni Williams to the ISS for a six-month stay.

Atlas V and Starliner Ready for Launch

A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket and Boeing's CST-100 Starliner spacecraft are set to launch from Space Launch Complex 41 at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The launch window extends from May 19 to June 2.
