Boeing to Launch First Crewed Starliner Mission

Sub-headline: Mission Marks a Decade of Development

Paragraph 1:

Boeing's Crew Space Transportation (CST-100) Starliner spacecraft is scheduled to launch its first crewed mission for NASA on May 6, 2024. The mission, known as the Boeing Crew Flight Test, will serve as a critical test flight to demonstrate the Starliner's capabilities before it joins NASA's fleet of operational spacecraft for missions to the International Space Station (ISS).

Paragraph 2:

The Starliner is a partially reusable spacecraft designed to transport crew to and from the ISS. Boeing and NASA have collaborated on the development of the spacecraft since 2012, with a total of seven uncrewed test flights conducted to date. The crewed mission marks a major milestone for the program and for Boeing, which has been vying to join SpaceX as a commercial provider of crew transportation services for NASA.

Paragraph 3:

NASA will provide live coverage of the pre-launch and launch activities for the Boeing Crew Flight Test. The launch is scheduled for 6:14 AM EDT from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The astronauts set to fly on the mission are Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Sunita Williams, both veteran NASA astronauts with decades of experience in space.
